What happened in the past does not have to keep running your life.

When trauma, confusing feelings, or repeating patterns keep showing up, therapy can help you make sense of it all. Many of my clients can't put their finger on what's going on, just that something feels off. Maybe you’re stuck in the same kinds of relationships. Maybe your reactions feel too big—or too shut down. Maybe you get unexpectedly triggered. Unhealed trauma shows up in many different ways. Together, we’ll figure out what’s really happening and start making changes.

trauma therapy

Trauma isn’t always obvious.

Trauma isn’t always the result of one major event like abuse, an accident, or war. Sometimes it’s the slow accumulation of difficult experiences - growing up in chaos, never feeling safe to be yourself, or constantly having to ignore your own needs.

Our brains are wired to protect us, and in the moment, those protective responses are often exactly what we need. The challenge comes when the brain keeps using those same responses long after the perceived danger has passed.

Unresolved trauma can show up in ways you might not expect

Over time, these survival patterns can start to feel like part of who you are - persistent anxiety, exhausting relationships, or a constant sense of being on high alert. Other common signs of unresolved trauma can include:

  • Intense mood swings that feel out of your control
  • Trouble sleeping and never feeling fully rested
  • Difficulty trusting others and always bracing for something to go wrong
  • Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected from your own body

These symptoms can last for years, even decades, if not treated - but it's never too late to heal.

If trauma is hypervigilance
EMDR helps identify the origin.
If trauma causes headaches
EMDR helps release stored body trauma

EMDR Therapy is a powerful way to heal - without reliving the pain

When something traumatic happens, it can get “stuck” in your nervous system - your brain keeps treating it like it’s happening right now instead of something from the past. With somatic and attachment-focused EMDR, I don't just work with the memory itself - I also help you notice and release the physical tension and body sensations tied to it, and address the relationship patterns that grew out of early experiences. You might recall parts of a memory while doing gentle movements (like eye tracking, tapping, or sound cues). The movements help both sides of your brain work together, allowing the memory to be reprocessed and stored in a way that feels less triggering.

With EMDR, healing doesn’t mean erasing the past — it means changing how it lives in you.

The memory doesn’t disappear - you can still remember what happened - but the emotional charge around it softens. It's a neuropsychological shift that make triggers lose their grip, and your brain learns it’s safe to respond differently. Over time, the event feels more like a chapter in your story rather than something you’re still living through. This change opens up space for clarity, calm, and a greater sense of control in your daily life.

The Body Holds What the Mind Can’t—Somatic Therapy Lets It Go

Somatic therapy starts with the understanding that trauma isn’t only stored in our thoughts - it can also live in our bodies, even if we’re not consciously aware of it. Sometimes the body holds stress and trauma as tension, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, IBS, thyroid conditions, fatigue, or other physical discomforts and ailments.

This approach helps you gently notice those sensations and safely release the energy your body has been carrying. Because being in your body can feel unsafe after trauma, we move at a pace that feels right for you, always respecting your boundaries and comfort level.

Through gentle movement, breathwork, and mindful awareness, somatic therapy supports you in feeling calmer, more grounded, and more at home in your own skin—laying the foundation for lasting healing and resilience.

Healing That Creates a path forward

Healing from trauma doesn’t mean erasing the past—it means learning new ways to respond and reclaim your life. Are you completely "cured"? Probably not. You may still have tough days, but the patterns that once ran you no longer define you. You feel better. Something has shifted, and you are calmer, more grounded, and more connected to yourself. Together, we create a path forward filled with growth, resilience, and hope.
